Blogrush News Flash Update

September 19th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Being a brand new member of Blogrush, I’ve been curious to see how it will work to help bloggers increase traffic and subscribers to their blogs. In an update email I just received from Blogrush, there have been mixed reviews from users. The #1 user complaint has been “My Click-Through Rates Are Really Low”. As I expected, the reasons given for this included the fact that blog post titles “must be well-written in order to get maximum attention and therefore maximum clicks”. When writing post titles it’s best to be SPECIFIC about the topic you are discussing. The Blogrush widget displayed on your website or blog has set dimensions, so your post title must be very concise and to the point, and fit the widget dimensions to maximize attention and click-throughs. Fortunately, Blogrush has realized they need to add more categories to help the widget deliver more relevant content. Some categories are too generalized, and I’m happy to report that Blogrush is currently working on adding more categories. They are also currently working on narrowing down some categories, such as the Entertainment category.

There’s another reason that’s bringing down the average click rates across most of the network… FRAUD. Some dishonest users that are trying to abuse the system and cheat. From running scripts to auto-load the widget, to trying to hide the widget in an invisible frame, and more. These “cheaters” are using up some member credits with widget impressions that are not being seen by humans — which results in ALL of the impressions receiving ZERO clicks; because they are never actually seen by anyone. Blogrush has issued it’s warning saying “Anyone caught cheating will have their account TERMINATED. They will forfeit any referral network they have built and be permanently BANNED from BlogRush for life.”

ALSO…

In the coming weeks and months Blogrush promises to continue to improve their system. One of the things they want to do is allow you to track your click activity BY POST. *And* have an option for your account to auto-optimize your syndication based on the highest click-rate. In other words, if you publish 3 new blog posts in a week, and one of those posts is experiencing a click-rate that is 3-4 times greater than the other posts, then the system would be able to mostly serve the more clickable post title to drive maximum traffic to your blog with your syndication credits.

I’d just signed up for Blogrush earlier today, so it was helpful
to come across your article on it. Thanks! I hope it turns out to be
    helpful to many bloggers, including
    both of us, over time.

    Hello Jaya,

I’m happy that the article was helpful for you. I’ve been happy with the results so far. I’ve read numerous blogs about whether blogging on weekends is beneficial or not, and I find for the most part that I do have a good number of visitors on weekends, but no where near during the week. People are spending their weekends with family, children etc, so if I see a drop on the blogrush visitors graft I don’t get uptight about it. It always goes right back up on Monday. Yeah!
