I’ve been doing a tremendous amount of research into suggested and “proven” ways of building web traffic and links to my blog. While it can sometimes seem like climbing Mt. Everest, I feel fortunate that many of my favorite blog authors have vast amounts of articles on the topic of “Build Web Traffic” and links, making the research much easier for me.
After careful review of many blog articles discussing techniques to build web traffic, it’s a bit unsettling to find that there is great disagreement in what works vs. what does not. After all was said and done, I decided that I would have to try various suggestions and determine for myself the validity of the claims made.
Participate In Blog Carnivals-
One suggested method of building web traffic, links and subscribed readers, is by participation in Blog Carnivals. I’ve run across various blog posts discussing upcoming Blog Carnivals, such as the “All Women Blogging Carnival“, but had not taken the time to really delve into what is involved until now. While my participation in Blog Carnivals may well build web traffic and links to my blog, Blog Carnivals appear to be an excellent source of finding interesting blogs within my own niche, thus providing further networking opportunities.
Being an avid reader of ProBlogger, I engrossed myself in Darren’s archives and found his post, “Participate In Blog Carnivals-Reader Quick Tip” to be very helpful and informative.
I also recommend FiveCentNickel’s “Five Questions and Answers about Blog Carnivals.
Brandon Hopkins has some fun and easy “Round Robin” strategies on “How To Get 29 Free Links” to your blog, many of which I’ve already implemented. One of my favorites is the suggestion to create a free Squidoo account, write an article and post an embedded text link back to your blog.
Write articles (posts) and submit them to EzineArticles and Associated Content and other article directories. I’ve been doing this for quite awhile now, and have found this very helpful in building traffic to my blog.
DoshDosh has an extensive category of Link Building and SEO Tips, that are definitely worth your consideration. One of my favorite posts on topic is “15 Link Building Tips for New Websites“, a must read for any blogger seeking strategies for building web traffic and links.
I didn’t personally see it mentioned anywhere else, but I often put a portion of a blog post, including embedded text links to my blog, on my MySpace blog. Reviewing my MySpace blog stats later on the same day, I often find a large number of viewers to that snippet which leads them here to my blog.
If you’ve found helpful strategies that worked well to build web traffic and links to your blog, we’d love to hear about them. Please do leave us your comments.
