Goodbye Blogger – Hello Wordpress!

We’ve moved to Wordpress! What do you think of the new and improved Telling It Like It Is? Bright and vibrant colors, awesome graphics, big RSS Subscribe button for all to trip over (hint hint)! Wink With all the nonsense that’s been going on with Blogger lately, changing up the comments section on Blogger blogs and all sorts of other Google garbage, I became completely fed-up with Blogger.

Bye Bye Blogger – Hello Wordpress!

I have to extend my most gracious thanks to Snoskred for implementing the switch. I happened upon a post on Snoskred’s blog, “About Templates – Moving To Wordpress”. There Snoskred explains helping Lightning move to Wordpress and the steps taken to get everything set up and running right, including choosing a template and tweaking the colors and graphics to make it very esthetically appealing.

As I continued to read the post I became more excited at the possibility of making the switch from Blogger to Wordpress, and was astonished at the low fee Snoskred charges for doing the transfer! How does zip, zero, nada sound to you?! That’s right! Snoskred charges nothing to do all the work involved with making the switch, and only charges a hosting fee of just $5.00 a month? Just sixty dollars a year?! Are you kidding me?! I mean come on, who can beat that?! If you are at all considering switching to Wordpress I highly recommend that you talk to Snoskred. While she doesn’t charge a fee for all the work she put in moving my blog to Wordpress, she absolutely will get a very nice tip for all her hard work. Thank you so much Snoskred! Smile

I must also tip my hat to Courtney Tuttle for his awesome SEO Wordpress themes, of which I now use the “Cutline 3-Column Split 1.1“. Great job Court! Snoskred tweaked a couple of things, added the header image and greenery, changed the RSS button, but the original template is fabulous all on its own.

So what do you think? Do you like it?

Well done on making the move!

I like it but I might be a bit biased. ;) seeing as I had so much to do with it.

    Cheers!

Snoskred, I am bowing down to you girl! I’m on my hands and knees offering up many thanks and kudos more so than you can imagine! I think I love you! :)

You are “da bomb!” You’ve been extremely patient with all my numerous (and probably dumb) questions, and for that I thank you immensely!

Big tip coming your way! (still bowing down!)

    Hip Hip Hooray for Snokred!

Are you glad you did it now?

Looks good so far. And you got comments moved too. Great job by Snoskred.

You can get my Blogging Zoom hack for Sociable if you want to add it to your list. You might also want to look into adding EntreCard to build more traffic. Oh, and the Dagon Sitemap plugin would be good addition too.

  5. I think it looks great. I’ve been wanting to switch as well, but I don’t know what I’d do about all the people that link to my site of established blogrolls that have my current url on them. Did you have to contact everyone or is there an easier way? What about Alexa and PR – did you have to start from scratch with a new site or did your stats transfer?
    Thanks, Jerry

AdTracker, Oh man am I ever glad I moved. One thing I really wanted was the ability to allow links to “the last post” by anyone who commented. I really like that feature. I was honestly on pins and needles during the whole change over! Chewed all my fingernails off!

Frank, thank you! I definitely want the zoom plugin , but I’ll probably have to talk to snoskred on how to add that feature. Especially if it involved the FTP stuff, I have no clue! ;)

I have seen a couple posts that say something about the Entrecard, but I honestly don’t know what that is. Dagon Sitemap plugin? Hmmm another thing I don’t know about. Yikes! So much to learn!

Hi Jerry! I didn’t lose my PR at all. I had my own domain name that I simply had hosted on Blogger for free. Snoskred moved my hosting and domain onto her server. I didn’t lose any of my links at all because they are tied to my domain name, and that stayed the same. I highly recommend you talk to Snoskred. She was so helpful, I cannot say enough about her. I am clueless about these things, and putting my faith and trust in her was absolutely the right thing to do. Good luck with it! You won’t regret it! :)

  8. Hi Lin,

That is one damn sexy blog you’ve got here. And Snoskred that Aussie chick is fab as it sounds like.

Great to see another WP freak on board. :-)

Plus I nearly fell over that green button up the top so it’s all your fault that I’m subscribed now.

Thank you Monika! I love your blog! Welcome to Telling It Like It Is. ;) Sorry to hear about the “death” in the family, with the recent loss of your dofollow plugin. I told Snoskred about that, wondering if dofollow is about to go to blogging heaven. I wonder if Andy Beard has gone nofollow?

Thanks Todd! I’m really excited about the change. I need to spend some time figuring out how to use images in posts, if they’re sized automatically to fit properly or if I have to do that manually (?), how to prepare post-dated posts so they publish automatically and at the right time etc.

  11. Looks good! Hope you’ll be happier.

Sam, very good decision! If you’re looking for hosting and a very easy switch, I highly recommend Snoskred! :)

  17. Hey Lin

Congratulations – it looks really smart, sorry it took me so long to drop by and have a look – I’ve been working on so many projects!

I’m glad you found a solution to your worries – bet you’re loving it now though huh?

Great job by both you and Snoskred! Knew you could do it :-)

  18. Lin says:

Maurice, I am definitely loving it! It’s rather funny to me that as soon as I get set up on Wordpress, suddenly I’m bombarded by people trying to sneak through the spam filters. hahahaha Not a chance! ;)
