StaycationAs you’re reading this, we are now on a much needed Staycation. The hubby and I are getting some R&R and enjoying some wonderful sights and scenery in our local area. I’ll periodically be checking emails, moderate and respond to comments left, but it may take a little longer than usual to do so.

If you’re new here, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy some of my favorite articles on this site. If you haven’t yet, you may want to subscribe to Telling It Like It Is by email or RSS feed, whichever you prefer. I’ll be back to regularly scheduled postings next week.

  1. hi Lin, Enjoy your (local) Staycation! You didn’t say where you went. Is that because you don’t want company (from your readers)? Was it one of your “ten places to see in your life”? :) Anyway, have a great time! ~ Steve

  2. hi again Lin,
I was so impressed by your new word “Staycation” that I googled it, thinking that you had invented it and your post would rank #1. Well, I found out you didn’t invent it, but you did introduce me to it! I was thinking you were like Pat Riley who came up with and trademarked the word “3peat” when the Lakers were dominating. Well, whether you originated “staycation” or not, it’s cool. Now I’ve just got to convince my family to make our next vacation a staycation – I like the impact (or lack thereof) on the wallet! Anyway, hope you are enjoying your staycation. Maybe we’ll get you on the first page for it after all. ~ Steve (aka Mr. “display booths” and new fan of staycations)

Hi Steve, no I didn’t invent the word staycation but considering how everything is costing more money (gas, food, airline tickets….don’t even get me started) we decided there were plenty of fun things to do locally, so we are on a staycation. :)

Yesterday I finished my car shopping by driving home a shiny red convertible Corvette! Whoohoo!!! My hubby is the coolest ever, as he found a 1999 Corvette being sold by its original owner (a man in his 60’s) who rarely ever drove it and it only has 9000 miles on this baby! Pristine condition and boy oh boy does it ever gooooooo. :) Vrroooooooom!

  4. Hi Lin, I hoped to comment today that you were #1 for the search “staycation” but you aren’t :( and looking at the search results and all the news stories and articles about it, something tells me there’s just too much competition. :( :( Can’t believe that I never heard of the word before.
BTW, congrats on the new (at least new to you) vet. I thought it was an urban myth finding the old hot rod with hardly any miles because the little old lady (or man) only drove it to church on Sundays, but it looks like you found it! Congrats! I’m just wondering, do you have the Prince song (or the song by the artist formerly known as Prince) in the vet’s CD player? ~ Steve (aka Mr. Display Booths)

  5. Lin says:

LOL Steve! No I don’t have (nor would I ever have) a cd for the artist formerly known as Prince. Not my thang, you see….

No, I actually have a Stevie Ray Vaughn cd in the cd player at the moment. Much more my style, plus a bit of Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Van Halen and a few other classic rock artists waiting to be played.

I wasn’t concerned in the least about how Staycation would rank in this post. Many of my other posts rank very well on the first page, with several being number 1. For example, do a search for “helping and enabling”, “helping vs enabling”, “difference between helping and enabling” etc and you’ll find those posts rank extremely well. Several other keywords I’ve used rank very well too, landing me at or near number 1. :)

  6. Lin says:

Hey Steve, as silly as it seems, I just discovered that my bday post ranks high on page one with the keywords “today is my birthday”. LOL

  7. hi Lin, to clarify, I was referring to Prince’s song “Little Red Corvette”. :) He isn’t really my style either. I concur with your taste in music. Congrats on the rankings for helping/enabling. (wow). Cool on “today is my birthday”! I didn’t think you were targeting staycation, I just had never heard of it before and though you’d come up with it, and would thus rank for it. BTW, you are on staycation! Whatcha doing replying to these comments! :) ~ Steve (aka Mr. Display Booths)

  8. staycation! i love it! might need to plan one of those too. :)

  9. Michael says:

Have fun on your vacation!! No worries we’ll be here lol!!

  10. hi Lin, I couldn’t resist and had to check. While you’re not on google’s page one for “staycation” :( , you are #3 for Lin is on staycation! :) Better yet, on yahoo you are #1 and #3 for Lin is on staycation. CONGRATULATIONS! Hope you’re having fun with your new Corvette! ~ Steve

  11. Lin says:

Hi Steve, it’s funny to hear that cuz it didn’t occur to me that there would be anything searchable for Lin is on staycation. That’s too funny. Keywords are amazing, and I enjoy immensely watching my LIVE analytical software showing me the keywords people use to find my posts. If I knew then (when I first started blogging) what I know now, several posts from the early days would have had very different post titles and targeted keywords. Live and Learn I guess. Oh, Monday’s post will cause a few people to shake their heads, but there really is a method of my madness. Being on Staycation has given me so many post ideas, now if I could find the time to get them all done quickly. :)

  12. Vered says:

Enjoy your Staycation! I haven’t had one yet, I always go on vacations, but I do like the idea.

  13. Lin says:

Hi Vered, I yam I really yam! :)

When Lin is on Staycation all the fun comes rolling in and we’ve been having a blast while on Staycation. It’s almost over though, snif snif waaaah. ;)
