Morgan Freeman Divorce: Myrna Colley-Lee Files For Divorce

Morgan Freeman Divorce: Myrna Colley-Lee Files For DivorceMorgan Freeman hasn’t even fully recovered from his recent car accident, but now there are reports that his wife of 24 years, costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee, is filing for divorce from the actor. Freeman and a female passenger, 48-year-old Demaris Meyer, were injured in Monday’s serious car accident, and rumors have been flying about the nature of their relationship.

Access Hollywood reports Freeman and his wife “are involved in a divorce action,” quoting the actor’s Mississippi-based attorney and business partner Bill Luckett told Access Hollywood.

“And for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”

As previously reported, Morgan Freeman and Demaris Meyer were involved in a serious car accident near the actor’s Ruleville Mississippi home, in which the car left the road and flipped several times, pinning the actor in the car until help arrived. The jaws of life were used to remove both Freeman and Meyer from the smashed car.

Freeman and Meyer, who has been described as the actor’s friend, were reportedly on their way to Freeman’s home when the accident occurred. “Friends with benefits” perhaps? If so, what an awful way for their relationship to be made public, and the public embarrassment for Freeman’s wife.

  1. My goodness! I certainly hope things settle out for the best between them. What a tumultuous week for Morgan Freeman!

Hi Andrew, I always hate to see couples get divorced, but from everything I’ve read about Morgan and Myrna being separated for awhile, I suppose it was inevitable.

  3. Hi Lin,
I remembered seeing this post when I watched The Bucket List last night. I won’t comment on Morgan’s personal life, but he is one hell of an actor. He and Jack Nicholson are amazing together, and I can see why they got some nominations for this movie (I think they did anyway). If you haven’t seen the Bucket List, it’s a good movie, but it’s also a tear jerker. I’m man enough to admit my eyes got a little wet at the end.

Hmm, The Bucket List sounds familiar but I’m not sure why. I’m not sure if I’ve seen it or not, but Morgan Freeman is one of my all time favorite actors! I can’t think of one single movie he’s ever been in that I didn’t love, love, love.

  5. hi Lin,
In the Bucket List, Morgan and Jack are two old guys that meet in a hospital. They both find out they have about six months to live, and decide to write a list of things they want to do in life before they “kick the bucket”, and then they try to do all those things in the time they have left. It’s funny, and they’re both great actors, but there’s no surprise “Hollywood ending’ – the doctors were right – so it’s a bit sad. Anyway, it was a well-made movie.
