The New Father: A Dad’s Guide to the First Year Audiobook Random Drawing
“The New Father: A Dad’s Guide to the First Year” helps new dads feel better about their somewhat emotional and confusing new role as father, and two lucky winners have the opportunity to receive Armon Brott’s dad-to-dad advice for father’s in this audiobook random drawing.
Within The New Father, Brott offers sound advice for new dads on everything from dealing with a crying baby to finding time for sex, and the many changes of life that come with a baby’s arrival and developmental changes throughout the first year.
Answers are given to questions like, How can you become an effective, involved father when you see your baby for only half an hour after work every day? How do moms and dads parent differently? What impact does fatherly involvement have on a child’s intellectual and social intelligence? When should babies reach certain developmental benchmarks? What is the best way to start saving for your child’s college education?
The book/audiobook is broken down and arranged on a month-by-month basis, just like The Expectant Father is presented, where Brott charts the physical, intellectual, verbal, and emotional changes the child is going through, and examines the emotional and psychological developments the father may be experiencing as well. Brott suggests activities appropriate to each month of the child’s development, and covers such parenting issues as finding quality child care and understanding changes in the relationship with one’s partner.
Topics include:
- Coping with unexpected anxieties and fears
- Making sense of your own emotions
- Working out sleeping and feeding schedules
- Analyzing the baby’s temperament
- Anticipating how the baby will affect your relationship with your partner and what to do about it
- Specific things every father can do, from the baby’s first hours, to staying involved and building a close relationship with his child, even if he can’t be there as much as he’d like to
- Juggling your work and family roles
- Introducing the baby to music, reading, and even computers

Hi Lin,
lol, good timing. Jaiden is due in just a couple of days. I think I’ve had a fair amount of practice at being a dad. That being said, I haven’t been around a baby in about 10 years.
I suppose you can enter me in your contest. However, please don’t let me beat out any truly first time dads who may also enter.
Thanks,
Todd
Todd, you and your wife must be so excited about Jaiden’s arrival. I hope everything goes well and the labor and delivery isn’t too difficult for your wife.
You are entered in the drawing, and it really is a random drawing. Names are placed in a big fishbowl, then it gets shaken and tossed around and finally two pieces of paper with names are drawn to find out who the winners are.
i am always up for a free book
Hi Linda, you are entered in the drawing as well.
Great thing for new dads. Hey I’m interested in winning a copy, take me in.
Hi RPB, you are entered into the drawing for the audiobook as well.
Lol, I came across this site and this post just in time! My husband and I are expecting our first and I would love to be able to give this to him to listen to while he’s at work as he’s not a big reader. I know he’s nervous as I am if not more and having something from a guys perspective would probably be great since he’s the first of his friends to be married or become a dad!
Hi Chelsea, welcome to the site. You are entered into the drawing as well.
I apologize for the delay in announcing the two winners of this drawing. I’ve not been feeling well due to migraine headaches.
The two winners are Todd (Candle Monkey) and Chelsea! Whoohoo! I’ll be sending you an email to get your mailing address, so be sure to watch for that. Congratulations to you both!
A great book for Dads. My husband sure did get a lot from the book. Moms to be and Dads to be should both read the book. My Mom bought the book for us and told us both to read it. She said she had such a hard time getting my Dad involved with us children as though days fathers did not get involved with the children until they were much older.
Annakat, the New Father book really is an excellent one for moms and dads alike, and it’s unfortunate but true that there are not nearly enough books written BY fathers FOR fathers. There are thousands of books for expectant mothers but very few for dads.
Hi Lin,
Thank you very much … I appreciate you
Todd
