My parents are not into wedding dances. In fact, on my sister’s wedding, during the dance number, they left and went home. I learned from this lesson, and didn’t have a dance during my wedding.
Rudy, that is sooo sad. Some couples opt to not having a father/daughter dance or a mother/daughter dance at all – to each his own I guess. Some brides don’t have a great relationship with their father and the father doesn’t walk her down the aisle etc, so they sometimes decide to go without a special dance.
The mother/daughter dance is growing in popularity and I think that’s a fun idea, rather than the typical/traditional, old fashioned wedding dance routines that have been going on for many years.

One of my friends had thrown a small party for his Mom last Mother’s day and had picked out a random Mom song and played it on… He din really bother to listen to the whole of it earlier on. And guess what happened. The song was actually about this guy missing his Mom when she passes away!!! He was so embarrassed!
Hi Janet, I’ve read numerous times that some people have been too quick to choose a song and didn’t read the lyrics first and were terribly embarrassed when they discovered the song really didn’t fit the occasion. Oops!
You know what, Lin. Next month would be my mum and dad’s 30th wedding anniversary. My brother and I has been planning an anniversary party for them. Maybe, I will put on the songs that you’ve recommended in the list!
Note: By the way, I thought that Eric Clapton, “My Father’s Eyes” should deserve a spot in the 101 songs as well.
Hi Wilson, I’m sure there are lots of other great songs for moms and dads that can be used. Some people choose songs that the parent(s) liked when the kids were very young and decide to use it to dance to because of the memories involved. Eric Clapton has some great music out there doesn’t he? There are some great hip hop and R & B songs to dance to as well, but the list was getting very long, so I just left those out for now.
