College Placement Exams and Practice Tests for College Placement

OK, I understand that when you’re getting ready to go to college, it’s important to know/remember your “basic” math skills. But seriously, why do they make you relearn/study the stuff you spend the LEAST amount of time learning about in school?! Who spent a huge amount of time learning about percentages and converting them 3 different ways, and then learning how to convert them back?

Maybe if you were an accountant or a mathematician then, yes, I can see the importance of such things, but I don’t remember the last time I studied about decimals, fractions and percentages in math. Yes, you learn about it A LITTLE, but really?! They must want these kids to fail this exam! I mean, I’m not a math whiz in the slightest, nor am I completely clueless either, but you spend more time learning about angles in shapes and degrees than you do learning about percentages and the like.

Marriage in College

Fourteen percent of women between the ages of 25 and 29 who had been married were divorced. Although this seems like a significantly high rate, it represents a 30 percent drop from just ten years ago. More people are waiting until later in life to get married, contributing to the lower divorce rate.

Some still prefer to marry young, though, and even choose to make the leap at while in college. Doing so may be thought to be rash, or to require at least one parent to put off finishing school or take online classes for college, but in fact couples willing to face the challenge stand chances as good as anyone else of making a lasting marriage.

Too Old To Learn? Hogwash. You’re Never Too Old To Learn Something New

It never ceases to amaze me the number of times I’ve been told that erroneous quote, “I’m too old to learn”. It is utter nonsense for anyone to think, let alone actually say to themselves or outloud, that they’re too old to learn something new.

What’s even more odd is the age range of people who’ve been saying they’re too old to learn things, to educate themselves and grow or expand their knowledge once they’ve reached a certain age. Men and women (mostly women) saying they’re too old to learn new things when they’re only in their forties, fifties, sixties and so on. Hogwash. That ridiculous quote has got to be one of the biggest cop-out’s of all time. You’re never, ever too old to learn anything.

Golden Books, Tootle, Little Golden Books Collection List, Disney Golden Books

The Little Golden Books collection of children’s books, originally published by Simon & Schuster in cooperation with the Artist and Writers Guild, will celebrate its 70th anniversary on October 1, 2012. Little Golden Books is a very popular collection of hardbound books for reading to infant babies, toddlers and older children, with the very first 12 titles of Little Golden Books published on October 1, 1942.

Starting a collection of Little Golden Books can be daunting, since some of the older Golden books are rare and very hard to find unless you’re able to find vintage Golden Books at garage sales, antique shops, flea markets, thrift book stores, online auction sites like eBay, Etsy shops or on Amazon. No collection of Little Golden Books would be complete without the endearing book called Tootle, written by author Gertrude Crampton, a children’s story about a little train that could do just about anything.
