My Willow Tree Grandparents With Grandchildren Figurines Collection

Willow Tree Grandparents As a grandparent with several grandchildren, and surely more to come in years ahead, I was instantly drawn to the Willow Tree figurine collection, Susan Lordi’s line of carved, figurative sculptures.

I was introduced to Willow Tree figurines a few years ago when I received the “Together” Willow Tree figurine from my husband as a Christmas gift. I was hooked on Willow Tree ever since, and have regularly searched for any and all newly added items to the Willow Tree family of products.

I’m especially drawn to the Willow Tree Grandparents figurine collection, and have gradually been building my personal collection of these figurines from the grandparents family groupings and individual children/grandchildren figures, pictured here.

LunchBots Stainless Steel Food Containers and Bento Boxes

LunchBots Stainless Steel Food Containers Jacqueline Linder, Founder and CEO of LunchBots, the family-owned business providing consumers healthy and safe stainless steel lunch and snack food containers, is an entrepreneur and company I greatly respect. With the growing awareness and concern about the abundance of harmful plastic products used in many homes, more people are making the necessary changes to get rid of their plastic storage containers and are searching for healthier options.

When I first heard about LunchBots awhile back, it was important to me to take the time needed to check out the quality of their product line, the company’s history and mission, rather than just jumping on the bandwagon full steam ahead simply based on a few online reviews.

Telling It Like It Is on Facebook

Telling It Like It Is on Facebook Telling It Like It Is is now on Facebook, with our own Facebook fan page. I have been asked more times than I can count to create a Facebook fan page for this blog, Telling It Like It Is, so this past weekend I created a fan page and I’d like to invite all of you to come and enjoy the page with me.

When I’ve been asked, Why don’t you have a fan page on Facebook for this site, I really didn’t have a good answer for them. I’ve had a personal Facebook for quite a long time, and since I’ve been writing on this site for several years, I really should have made a fan page for subscribed readers and followers to “Like” and actively engage with outside of the comments section here a long time ago.

60th Birthday Gift Ideas vs Birthday Gag Gifts for Men Turning 60

60th Birthday Party Gift Ideas The 60th birthday party that I’m hosting in a couple of months is well along in the planning stages. The custom birthday party invitations have been received, the very unique and uncommon birthday cake has been ordered, the party decorations have been chosen, the birthday menu is completed, so now my thoughts have shifted to what do you get as a birthday gift for a man turning 60 years old?

Every birthday is special of course, but milestone birthdays like the 50th, 60th, 70th and 80th birthdays should be treated as extra special, and a lot of thought put into the selection of a good birthday gift for someone entering a milestone year. I mean, it’s the Big 6.0.! Thoughts of retirement, getting older, enjoying time spent with grandchildren, hobbies, etc are typically on their minds. The 60th birthday is a big deal and should be treated as such.

Since I’m hosting this very special birthday party, coming up with my own ideas of what I will give this guy as a gift has had me scratching my head for unique gift ideas, but I’m also the go-to person for everyone on the invitation list to ask what they could get him as a birthday gift too. More head scratching and raking my brain for things a man about to be sixty years old would want or need that someone could give him as a birthday gift.

The Cards Against Humanity Card Game is Among Amazon’s Most Popular Products

Cards Against Humanity If you haven’t yet heard about the card game called Cards Against Humanity, surely you will soon. As I’ve been going through the various Amazon wish lists in my early Christmas shopping efforts, this very popular card game is listed on at least three people’s lists of things they want for Christmas this year, and sits at the top of Amazon’s best sellers in the toys/games category.

Although I haven’t ever played Cards Against Humanity, I’ve been hearing about how popular it is, and how graphic and disturbingly hilarious it seems to be for those who choose to play it. Marketed as an adult card game for those 18+ years of age and up, and now in its third expansion, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised to find people we know wanting to buy it, or hoping someone will buy it for them as a gift.

Duck Dynasty Christmas Gifts

Duck Dynasty Christmas We’re big fans of the hilarious Duck Dynasty show on A&E, so it only makes sense to find Duck Dynasty merchandise to give as Christmas gifts for family and friends who also love the show. Remember, I’ve said that Christmas gift shopping starts very early at our house, so it’s been quite easy to find the various Robertson family related products that can be given as gifts this Christmas.

Have you heard that the Robertson family is releasing their first Christmas album titled “Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas” in late October of this year? Perfectly timed to give as Christmas gifts for Duck Dynasty fans. Duck The Halls is reportedly going to be a variety-show style music CD featuring Robertson family vocals, humor, and a few well-placed duck calls. I’m Happy Happy Happy!

Spanish Toys – Kids Learning Spanish Educational Toys and Games

Spanish for Kids Movies Giving kids Spanish toys and games to help them in learning Spanish as a second language has been high on my list of Christmas gift ideas and birthday gifts for quite some time now. Learning a second language, including Spanish, from the time kids are barely able to talk, is a great idea for bilingual parents and families.

Providing babies and toddlers and older kids a variety of ways of learning to speak Spanish fluently helps kids become fluent in Spanish or any other language at a much younger age, rather than waiting until language classes are offered in schools. The younger parents begin teaching kids Spanish, the quicker children will begin understanding and speaking words in Spanish. And as a grandparent of (hopefully) soon-to-be fluent Spanish speaking grandchildren, brushing up on my Spanish will help a lot in advancing the grandkids Spanish communication skills as well as widening my own Spanish vocabulary. It’s a Win-Win on all sides.

Sewing Essentials for Sewing Beginners Top 10 List

Sewing Basket As a sewing beginner, I knew about some of the must have sewing supplies that I would need, like having a pair of great quality scissors used only for sewing and nothing else. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I needed to make a complete list of essentials for sewing that I didn’t have but would most definitely need pretty quickly.

Receiving a great quality sewing machine to sew stuff or sew craft projects etc was a fun and exciting moment. Even though I could have done alright with a very basic sewing machine for under $100.00, without all of the computerized stitching options etc, I knew I was going to be sewing a lot more than just doing basic sewing repairs and hems, so my not-so-basic sewing machine works perfectly for me.

Online Garage Sales are Great for Early Christmas Shopping!

Online Garage Sales I discovered online garage sales a couple of months ago, and after seeing how great they are for finding deals on new and like-new stuff, I joined as many of the online garage sale groups on Facebook that are within a reasonable distance from my home, making it a great help in my early Christmas shopping adventures and very nice on the budget.

I’ve been happily surprised to find some excellent Christmas gifts in the online garage sales, great gift ideas in brand new or like-new condition, some with the original store tags, and some without tags but in new condition, packages never opened, clothes never worn, children’s clothes and toys that are as if they had just been bought at the store. But at much cheaper prices than if I had bought these gifts at the store myself.

Early Christmas Shopping Has Begun – Christmas Shopping in July

Step2 Play Kitchen It’s the middle of July, but early Christmas shopping started a couple of weeks ago. Christmas shopping in July? You betcha! There are many benefits of starting early Christmas shopping, whether starting to shop in July or even May or June. I’ve known people who actually begin Christmas shopping for next year’s Christmas on December 26th, taking advantage of the many after Christmas sales.

Starting Christmas shopping early makes perfect sense for us. When I look at my calendar and see all of the upcoming special events, weddings, birthday parties, baby showers etc, plus Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, I can’t help but get a jump-start on Christmas shopping as early as possible for the sake of the budget. And my sanity.
