Healthy Cookware and Healthy Food Storage – Plastic vs Glass

Glass food storage with lids Through all of the reading and research I’ve been doing over the last few years about healthy living, two topics that are continuously brought up in the books and articles I’ve read, is that we need to take a serious look at what kind of cookware and food storage containers we’re using in our homes.

Junk the plastic food storage containers and switch to glass food storage; junk the non-stick Teflon cookware and switch to much healthier options like cast iron cookware, my personal favorite. Junk the microwave, or at least stop using the microwave, etc.

Why Dentists Don’t Know The Truth About Fluoride

Fluoride Water If you think the fluoride controversy is nothing but a “conspiracy theory” being promoted by a bunch of crazy, loony bin type people needing their head examined, then you may want to take it up with Harvard University, the EPA, and a former head of the National Cancer Institute. In fact, you’ll even want to take it up with the United States government as a whole, which has recommended the lowering of fluoride levels following a variety of studies that have linked fluoride to decreased IQ and neurological development.

If you’re one of those who routinely says things like, “You can’t believe anything you read on the internet”, or “take anything found online with a grain of salt”, then you might be surprised to learn that the Harvard University scientists published their conclusion ONLINE in the July 20, 2012 edition of the prominent journal Environmental Health Perspectives, a federal government medical journal stemming from the United States National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Make Your Own Long Silk Fashion Scarves and Fleece or Cotton Pajama Bottoms for Kids and Adults

Make a Long Silk Fashion ScarfBrowsing around on Pinterest for what my next beginner sewing project would be, I happened upon a (confusing) tutorial of how to make long silk fashion scarves. Silk scarves huh? Immediate skepticism set in as to whether or not a sewing beginner like me could make a fashion scarf that actually looked good and didn’t have that “homemade” look stamped all over it.

I’ve never sewn silk fabric before, with its sleek and luscious goodness I love so much, so the idea of making my own silk anything made me somewhat nervous. But I decided that if I’m ever going to learn how to sew a variety of crafts, kids and adults clothes, bags, totes and various accessories, I needed to jump right in and get my feet wet so to speak.

Pinterest is NOT a Waste of Time!

When I was first introduced and invited to join Pinterest, I didn’t have any idea what Pinterest is and what possible uses I would have for becoming a user. Some people have the opinion that Pinterest is a complete and total waste of time. I disagree wholeheartedly, but I can also understand why some might think of Pinterest as nothing but a time-waster. It’s all in how you use it, how much time is spent “pinning” and whether or not Pinterest users actually DO any of the things that have been “pinned” to a board.

For me personally, Pinterest is an excellent bookmarking tool, much better and simpler than loading up browser favorites to online articles or tutorials on How-To do this or that. While I will occasionally “pin” a recipe or two to my food/recipe board that I absolutely take the time to prepare and try out at home, at the moment I’m much more interested in the DIY Crafts category, sewing and patterns tutorials, wedding planning, tips and recipes for breadmaking with a breadmaker machine, and most especially quilting.

Best Bread Machines – Which Breadmaker Machine Should I Buy to Make Bread at Home?

Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker with Yeast Dispenser A few months ago I began researching the various breadmaking machines on the market, in hopes of finding a great breadmaker to begin making our own bread at home. While there are many people who make bread at home, by hand, without the help of an automatic bread machine, I simply don’t have the time for that.

To have the ability to just dump bread making ingredients into a breadmaker, press a couple of buttons and hit Start, and allow the bread machine to do all the mixing, kneading, rising and baking different kinds of breads in various size loaves, sent me on my search of the best of the best bread machines to choose from.
