The Little Golden Books collection of children’s books, originally published by Simon & Schuster in cooperation with the Artist and Writers Guild, will celebrate its 70th anniversary on October 1, 2012. Little Golden Books is a very popular collection of hardbound books for reading to infant babies, toddlers and older children, with the very first 12 titles of Little Golden Books published on October 1, 1942.
Starting a collection of Little Golden Books can be daunting, since some of the older Golden books are rare and very hard to find unless you’re able to find vintage Golden Books at garage sales, antique shops, flea markets, thrift book stores, online auction sites like eBay, Etsy shops or on Amazon. No collection of Little Golden Books would be complete without the endearing book called Tootle, written by author Gertrude Crampton, a children’s story about a little train that could do just about anything.
