With the new Kindle Fire coming out in time for Christmas this year, with a release date of November 21st, some are calling this year the “Kindle Christmas” and pre-ordering their new Kindle Fire now. As an avid book reader, none of the versions of the electronic Kindle thus far have caused me to want to move away from owning and holding the actual book itself, until now.

The new Kindle Fire has caught my attention due to the extremely low price of just $199.00, with free shipping for Amazon Prime Members, much cheaper than the extremely popular iPad. We don’t own an iPad and at this point have no interest in spending that kind of money on an electronic gadget when our laptops and computers work just fine. Having read numerous reviews about the Kindle, positive and negative, waiting for the latest and greatest version of the Kindle and seeing what options and apps are available seemed to be the wise choice.

Even though one can purchase a basic Kindle for just $79, and other versions for a little more money, the new Kindle Fire offers music, movies, games, TV shows, magazines, newspapers, books, color touchscreen and fast web-browsing and more for just under two hundred bucks. The ability to check emails, shop online and many other great features much cheaper than the super-expensive iPad, automatically spells out “Sold” in my book. Having the Kindle Fire will be a great asset when travelling away from home or on vacation trips by plane, without having to lug thick and heavy books or a laptop around in luggage for continuous reading material.

Just in time for some Christmas competition with Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble announced the release of the Kindle’s deemed competitor, the Nook Tablet. Will the Kindle Fire win out or will the Nook? PC Mag wonders if the popularity and sales of the new Kindle Fire might kill Apple’s Christmas this year, given how buying a Kindle Fire at about $200 is still $300 less than the least expensive iPad, making the Fire much more affordable for budget-conscious Christmas shoppers in a down economy, and great features sure to give the Nook Tablet a run for its money.

Unlike some of the typical electronic gadgets promptly bought up by the younger generation, eReader devices like the Kindle show the demographics of these devices are very important, with many older people buying them as well.

The Kindle Fire is a great asset for individuals, parents and children, with millions of books, bestsellers, cookbooks, comic books and children’s books to enjoy. Amazon Prime Members who are Kindle owners can borrow books with no return due date, including New York Times bestsellers, for FREE via the “Kindle Owners Lending Library”.

Sold separately, Kindle Fire accessories like leather covers, skins, sleeves, screen protectors, headphones or in-ear earphones, could very well mean this year’s holiday season will be dubbed “Kindle Christmas” for many good reasons. Move over big heavy books, I want a new Kindle Fire for my very own.
