What People Don’t Tell You about Marriage

From our childhood days and way into adulthood, a dream of perfect marital bliss is being planted into our minds. Even though we claim to be level-headed, modern individuals, fairytales and movies still make us wish for the one special person with whom we can spend our happily ever after. The problem is, all those romantic stories we hold up our own experiences to make marriage seem like it’s a lot easier than it really is.

Many engaged and newlyweds begin a new life as committed partners with expectations that love will see them through money troubles, character differences, and conflicting career plans. A lot of couples see these troubles through and become better together as a result, but sometimes things just have a way of getting ugly.

Is My Dog Pregnant? How to Tell If a Dog is Pregnant – Pregnant Dog Symptoms

Is my dog pregnant? How do you know if your dog is pregnant? Hearing my husband say he thinks the dog is pregnant came as a surprise. How can you tell?, I asked. He said our dog has been showing signs of being pregnant. We have not been trying to breed our dog at all, but during a recent thunder and lightening storm, our dog broke out of the fence while she was in heat. Signs? What signs? It makes sense that there would be symptoms exhibiting a dog is pregnant, but she didn’t look different to me, although she has been acting strange.

My initial shock at hearing that maybe our dog is pregnant wore off quickly, with thoughts racing through my mind about what in the world are we going to do with a pregnant dog and puppies on the way? Pregnant women have nine months to plan for labor and birth, but dogs are entirely another matter. How long are dogs pregnant?, I asked. About 60-62 days, give or take a week depending on the breed of dog, he replied. Sixty days?!

The Love Revolution – Helping Others by Practicing Random Acts of Loving Kindness

Entering a local book store to pick up a couple of Joyce Meyer’s books that I’ve been meaning to read, I noticed a small crowd of women gathered around a book display in an aisle, so deep a crowd that I couldn’t even see what book(s) or author they were clamoring around and browsing through.

As I got close enough to peek through the crowd to see the display clearly, I smiled as I realized they were all surrounding Joyce Meyer’s book called The Love Revolution, and also a little surprised at the sheer number of people surrounding the display since the book isn’t a new book but was published back in 2009.

Home Canning For Beginners – Canning Books, Equipment and Supplies

Home canning and preserving have been around forever, but I’ve only known a couple of people in my lifetime so far who know how to can. Learning how to can fruits and vegetables grown in our organic garden is a relatively new interest of mine, and it only makes sense to learn as much as possible about the basics of canning in order to can correctly the first time around, hopefully.

Being an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge on many different topics, acquiring books on home canning that explain exactly how home canning is done, the needed canning jars and supplies, and of course a variety of tasty recipes for the canned goods is a must-do for canning beginners like me. Fortunately, technology advances have improved the options available for people wanting to begin canning for the first time, where the “old fashioned” way of canning isn’t the only way anymore.

Recycling Coffee – 25 Ways to Recycle Coffee Grounds

There are many new and commonly known ways of recycling coffee grounds. Recycled coffee grounds is an effective way to become more eco-friendly by reducing landfill waste and lavish garden plants and vegetables with natural, nutrient-filled compost for gardens. It doesn’t matter what coffee brands you use, and I’ve even heard that using decaffeinated coffee grounds is okay for composting too.

Coffee drinkers who brew their own grounds know that a week’s worth of used grounds add up fast, and there is no better way to dispose of old coffee grounds than to recycle the grounds instead of simply throwing brewed grounds in the trash. We usually brew two pots of coffee each day, which adds up to a lot of used grounds in a weeks time, creating lots of waste.

10 Reasons Why People Don’t Go to Church Anymore

Churches around the US have changed over the years, where multi-site churches mean pastors are able to reach thousands of would-be church attendees on the web, says USA Today. In an interview with pastors Tim Keller, Mark Driscoll and Ed Stetzer, the “old fashioned”, traditional churches from grandma and grandpa’s time are going by the wayside and are being replaced by what is often referred to as the “mega church” with thousands upon thousands of church members.

Having visited a few “mega churches” over the years, such as the Potter’s House and a few others, witnessing the burgeoning growth of large churches and the increased numbers of online internet churches has been interesting to say the least. To say this ain’t your grandma’s church anymore is an understatement.
